Angela & Robert’s Intimate Chateau Wedding

A bold Angela one day walked up to ‘the guy on the train’ that she had been admiring for weeks and confidently passed over her phone number.  All it took was some trusted friends to convince her that it was a good idea and the rest is history. Coming from Italian heritage, Angela and Robert wed just south of Byron by at Chataeu Du Soleil (yes, we too thought this was a European elopement!)

Photographed by Lucas & Co, and a bunch of our other favourite Byron vendors, you are in for a real treat!

On the proposal

There is no better place than Europe to have the question popped…

“In May 2017, Robert and I spent a month traveling around Italy. I was so excited to go back to Italy because this is where my dad is from and I wanted to share so much about this beautiful place with Robert – the food, the wine, the history and architecture.

Robert knew that Positano held such a special place in my heart and decided that this would be where he would surprise me with a gorgeous ring. So after a day of taking in the coastline whilst hiking the ‘Path of Gods’ Robert got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.”

On the venue

The couple wed at the awe-inspiring Chateau Du Soleil in Knockrow. NSW.

“We wanted to have a very small and intimate wedding with the people who mean the most to us there to experience the day with us. We also wanted to make the wedding into more than just a day but a bit of a mini holiday for us with our nearest and dearest. So with that in mind, we wanted to pick a venue that would allow us to have the ceremony and reception in the one place whilst also allowing us to stay there in the lead up to and after the wedding day.

After searching on an off for 6 months we stumbled across Chataeu Du Soleil. The venue had enough space to allow us to host our family and friends for the 4-day celebration whilst also being so breathtakingly beautiful that we knew we could have our ceremony and reception on the grounds.

Chataeu Du Soleil has provincial French architecture, beautiful manicured gardens and Hamptons inspired décor. It is a little piece of Europe just south of Byron Bay that instantly connected with us.

We loved the soft colour pallete of the venue and knew that it perfectly met the overall style of the wedding.”

All the styling details

“We wanted a timeless and classic wedding but also one that reflected our personalities. We kept the colour palette neutral to complement the beauty of the venue and we drew inspiration from memories from our relationship to personalize things so that it felt like ‘us’.”

The Dress

“A friend of mine had purchased her wedding dress from KWH. She looked absolutely beautiful and after talking to her about where to start the wedding dress hunt she recommended KWH so highly that I had to have a look for myself. I hopped online and looked through the dresses on the website and followed the KWH Instagram page for inspiration – that’s when I knew I had to go and try on some of KWH’s beautiful dresses.”

Angela chose the Layne BESPOKE gown from our Brisbane boutique. She finished with an embellished neckpiece and the Odette detachable train that fell like wings from the edge of her gown.

“Layne is truly a unique dress whilst also being timeless. I especially love the beautiful beading on the collar, the way the dress fit to my body and the gorgeous back that the Odette train really emphasized.”

Accessorising

Not much else was needed for Angela’s elegant wedding look.

The detachable train meant that she didn’t need a veil and the embellished collar meant she kept her jewellery simple with studs that had a pear drop from Secrets.

Her gown popped with the incredible use of roses, baby’s breath and orchids in her bouquet by The French Petal.

Gown hunting tips

“Be open to trying on many different styles and fabric textures, whilst also being true to your personal style. I hadn’t even noticed the dress that ended up being ‘the one’, it was my mum that noticed it and I was slightly hesitant to try it on but thought whilst I was in the store I may as well.

Once I tried it on, and saw the beautiful neckline on I knew it was the dress I wanted to walk down the aisle in, to marry the love of my life.

I also really recommend playing with different trains / accessories because they can add something different to your look. I personally never saw myself as wearing a veil but I fell in love with the Odette train once we added it ‘just for fun’.”
