Victoria & Matthew

An explosion of considered colour and details flow throughout Victoria & Matthew’s exquisite Hunter Valley wedding at Dark Horse Vineyard.

“We met at our best mates’ wedding back in 2015. We were each locking eyes at every possible opportunity throughout the wedding and reception until FINALLY the dance floor came alive.

We were finally side-by-side and belting out Beyoncé’s ‘Drunk in Love’ on the dance floor getting a little messy. Matt’s parents were there, and his mother was quite a few champagnes deep and trying to set me up with him… but hysterically was getting in the way of it all.

Though it took each of us a couple of weeks to go on a date…Timing really is everything!

Matt was just back from a deployment and I was 2 months away from moving interstate to pursue study.

The sparks flew between us though, and as we got to know each other through another deployment (via emails and calls from a satellite phone) our magnetic connection only grew stronger. Eventually (after almost a year) I moved back to Sydney, and the rest as they say, has become our history.

To fast forward a few years, we’re settled into our beautiful life on Sydney’s northern beaches. After surviving lockdowns and more deployments, and long stints apart due to covid, and after a pretty big year of familial losses, we had finally planned a big family get-together up in Lennox Head to celebrate the togetherness of our family.

Matt, being a cheeky prankster had told me sea-turtles had come in with the tide and were on the sand at the end of our accommodation.

So we ran down the length of the property in the pouring rain , my entire family clued in watching, and me, gullibly looking for sea-life that wasn’t there, turned around to a kneeled Matthew nervously blurting out a “marry me?”

It was a question I’d known the answer to since that first night belting out ‘Drunk in Love’ at our friends wedding, but I still replied with an “Are you sure”, just to asked a second time.

And now, fifteen months later from that moment on the shoreline, we are married and finding ourselves looking through our incredible wedding photos to relive what was the fastest day of our lives.

We are both still giddy in introducing each other as husband and wife and are so excited for all the adventures and moments to come, both big and small- as they all add to the fabric of our life.”
